Try volunteering in Ireland – requirements & tasks
Join us on our coastal sheep farm, just steps from the wild Atlantic Ocean! We welcome you to experience the beauty and challenges of farm life, whether it’s helping with the sheep year-round or lending a hand at our horse stables and trekking center during the summer months.
You will work for about 30 hours per week.
This opportunity is perfect for those who enjoy physical work and have a can-do attitude. If you’re up for an adventure and eager to learn new skills, we’d love to hear from you!
Seasons on our farm
Our farm work changes with the seasons, but caring for our sheep is a year-round priority. We regularly bring them in for check-ups to make sure they’re healthy and happy.
Spring is a busy time as we prepare for the arrival of lambs in April. We keep a close eye on the ewes and provide assistance when needed. Extra help during this time is always appreciated. In May and June, we also harvest peat to keep us warm in the winter months. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise.
Summer brings the time-honored tradition of hand shearing. It’s a busy but rewarding time. We carefully gather the sheep, collect their wool, and give them any necessary treatments. We’re happy to share our shearing skills with those interested, but it does take practice to become proficient.
In addition to sheep farming, we also run a horse stable during the summer months. We offer riding and trekking experiences to tourists. It’s a wonderful way to spend the summer, even though it involves caring for both the horses and our guests.
September marks the beginning of autumn, and the farm remains lively with plenty of sheep-related activities continuing right up until Christmas.
Each day brings new tasks and rewards, making farm life a fulfilling and ever-changing experience.
