Hello! I’m Noel, an Irishman who’s been widowed and living in France for the past 20 years. I enjoy welcoming guests from around the globe. Help me out and enjoy your working holidays in France!
Help with daily tasks as a volunteer in France – requirements & tasks
I’m an elderly gentleman in my eighties seeking assistance with daily life. I’ve made southwest France my home for the past two decades. Through my connections with Rotary, I’ve been hosting people from all corners of the world, which I truly enjoy.
I need help with everyday chores like cooking, gardening, driving, and some DIY tasks. Ideally, I’m looking for a couple who can share the responsibilities, but individuals are also welcome. Skills with trees or power tools are a definite bonus as my trees need some care and attention. A basic understanding of French or a willingness to use Google Translate would be helpful, as my French is limited.
I’m looking for someone to stay for at least three weeks, but a longer arrangement is possible if we get along well. You’ll need a driver’s license and ideally your own car, as I live in a rural area. Please note that I don’t allow smoking or pets, but you must be comfortable around my friendly cat.
My daughter Shannon, who lives in the UK, will manage applications and be present when you arrive to help you settle in. We have regular family visits, so there’s always plenty of lively conversation.
Help with daily tasks as a volunteer in France – what I offer
In exchange for 3.5 hours of work per day, 5 days a week, per person, I offer a private room with a private bathroom. Bills and food are included, but meals are prepared only when my daughter is visiting.
My home is nestled on a ridge, bordering a lush forest, and boasts breathtaking views of the Pyrenees mountains. The house itself is cozy and well-equipped with all the modern amenities you could ask for: a spacious kitchen, multiple bathrooms, central heating, WiFi, laundry facilities, a dishwasher, and even a top-notch coffee machine for those caffeine cravings.
Outside, you’ll find expansive gardens spanning about 2 acres, complete with a refreshing swimming pool for those hot summer days. There’s also a lovely sun-drenched terrace, ideal for al fresco dining.
The closest town, Oloron Ste Marie, is a mere 7.9km away. It’s a picturesque town nestled at the base of the Pyrenees, offering a charming blend of historical sites and stunning natural scenery.
