We are a Slovenian couple who have recently settled on a farm in the scenic Swedish countryside near Tiveden National Park. Working remotely, we dedicate our free time to caring for our animals (six horses, four sheep, three dogs, chickens, and a cat), renovating the farm, gardening, and appreciating the beautiful nature around us.
Many of our animals are rescued, and we aspire to transform our farm into a non-profit retreat center in the future, providing a haven for both animals and people facing mental health challenges. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge in areas such as equine care (including breeding), eco-farming, carpentry, cooking, and mental wellness.
Located in the southernmost wilderness area of Sweden and close to the large Vänern and Vättern lakes, our farm is surrounded by numerous smaller lakes with inviting beaches and forest trails. This natural beauty offers ample opportunities for swimming, cycling, canoeing, and enjoying barbecues.
Your typical tasks will include:
- Gardening and Replanting: Maintain and beautify our gardens and replant small trees.
- Stable Renovation and Fencing: Assist with renovating stables and building and installing fences. Basic carpentry skills are a plus, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are equally important.
- Horse Care: Help with brushing, light stable cleaning, and feeding.
- Firewood Collection: Gather firewood from the nearby forest for winter.
- Harvesting: Pick blueberries and mushrooms in August and September.
- Creative Projects: Engage in projects like crafting a sensory barefoot path, building an outdoor shower, and assembling a simple greenhouse.
We strive to provide volunteers with a great experience and are happy to adjust tasks to match your comfort level. However, some wood preparation is required each week.
You will work a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Your schedule will be flexible according to your needs.
Work on a farm as a volunteer in Sweden – what we offer
We offer volunteers a well-maintained caravan with a separate bedroom. It’s perfect for couple too. The caravan is heated, has a kitchen, and big closet space, ensuring a comfortable stay.
We provide a Wi-Fi, and amenities such as a barbecue, bicycles, and sport equipment. If you’re traveling with your own caravan or tent, there’s plenty of space for you to choose from. We also welcome well-socialized and well-behaved animals wgich you may want to bring with you.
We have also recently renovated our guest house, which accommodates 4-6 people, offering another lodging option.
Volunteers are welcome to use our washing machine. We offer two meals daily: breakfast and lunch. We eat lots of veggies with occasional servings of salmon, fish, and meat, inspired predominantly by Mediterranean flavors. During the summer, vegetables will come from our garden. If you have any dietary restrictions, we are happy to accommodate them.
