Working holidays in the US – requirements & tasks
Let’s make a real difference together, right here at my home! We’ll tackle a variety of seasonal projects focused on eco-forestry and sustainable land management to capture carbon and reduce fire risks. Join me in this hands-on effort to create a healthier, more resilient environment.
I’m a single mom, embracing off-grid homesteading in a vibrant back-to-the-land community. We’re passionate about caring for the earth and practicing sustainable forestry. I offer nature immersion retreats where guests can experience our way of life firsthand. Join us for wholesome family meals, hikes through breathtaking scenery, and inspiring conversations with like-minded neighbors.
I’m seeking help with various land projects, from nurturing the garden to implementing carbon farming techniques. In exchange, you’ll gain valuable skills and connect deeply with nature. You’ll also become part of a supportive community dedicated to making a positive impact.
I prefer a relaxed work pace with time to enjoy the beauty of my surroundings, good food, and meaningful conversations. Our community is rich with the wisdom of our elders, and I value learning from them.
Typical tasks
The work here is diverse and engaging, changing with the rhythm of the seasons. You might find yourself clearing land, collaborating on art projects, operating a chainsaw, hauling brush, tending burn piles, digging bioswales, or tackling weeds. All this with the goal of fire prevention and creating a beautiful, sustainable landscape.
There may also be opportunities to hone your carpentry or fencing skills. You’ll share in the daily upkeep of the homestead, helping with cleaning, cooking, and preserving food. Occasionally, you might even delve into the world of fiber arts, assisting with tasks like sorting and cleaning wool, natural dyeing, spinning, and weaving.
You’ll be working for about 20 hours per week.
