Volunteering in the USA

Do you crave a hands-on adventure immersed in nature? Join us on our cozy off-grid farm during spring and summer for a truly sustainable experience!

Help put on an off-grid farm while volunteering in the USA – requirements & tasks

Nestled amongst oak trees, our private camper offers a unique getaway. Well-behaved social pups are welcome too, with their own comfy doghouse waiting.

Prepare for adorable encounters with playful goats, happy pigs, and more farmyard friends. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the spring-fed creek during warmer months, or unwind with a siesta under the shade of the trees. Feeling adventurous? Try your hand at seasonal foraging or join us on exciting post-rain mushroom hunts!

We work together on various projects, but tasks can be tailored to your skills. Expect physical challenges as we move animal fencing for rotational grazing and tackle farm initiatives.

Colorado’s weather is a wild ride! Spring can be wet, summer scorching, and nights are often chilly due to the desert climate. Pack for all seasons, as temperatures fluctuate dramatically. Don’t worry, Pueblo’s local stores can fill any gaps in your gear – rain gear, sun protection, warm clothes – you name it!

Here’s a glimpse into your volunteer duties:

  • Haul and fill water sources to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Keep our furry friends happy and well-fed.
  • Unload and restock those hefty 50lb feed bags (minimum lifting capacity of 50lbs required!).
  • Chop and chip wood to keep the farm fires fueled.
  • Assist with forestry tasks and rotating animal fencing.
  • Lend a hand with various farm initiatives, including building and maintaining gardens.
important notes

Please be aware about the following:

  • We all work long hours and tasks are often physically demanding.
  • We’re committed to eco-friendly practices, including humanure composting. Learn more about this process for free at Humanurehandbook.com.
  • We promote a healthy lifestyle – that means no smoking, alcohol, or junk food.
  • Responsible cannabis use is okay, as long as it doesn’t hinder your ability to contribute on the farm.

Help put on an off-grid farm while volunteering in the USA – what we offer

Our custom-built 12’x8′ camper offers a cozy escape powered by the sun! Enjoy the convenience of running water and refresh yourself with hot showers thanks to the on-demand heater. Even chilly nights won’t be a worry with our trusty rocket stove keeping you warm and comfortable.

Curl up in the comfy queen-size bed and enjoy meals at the high-top table. Whip up culinary creations with the three-burner propane stove, complete with basic cookware, utensils, and a selection of essential spices. We also provide a 12v mini fridge stocked with pantry staples like rice, oatmeal, beans, tea, coffee, and canned goods. Have a dietary preference? No problem, let us know and we’ll try to tailor the pantry to your needs.

We provide purified drinking water and seasonal treats like raw goat’s milk and farm-fresh eggs (chicken, duck, and quail!). We offer various cuts of delicious grass-fed, grass-finished beef sourced locally from the mountains. Looking for something even closer to home? Our farm-raised chicken, duck, and quail might be on the menu (occasionally butchered on-site). Don’t miss out on our homemade kombucha and milk kefir – a delightful probiotic treat!

We believe in nourishing meals, so expect plenty of high-quality ingredients to inspire your culinary creations. Plus, I love to bake, so be prepared to share some delicious sourdough or other baked goods fresh from the oven! Top it all off with a weekly family-style potluck dinner, where you can share stories and laughter over a wholesome meal.
