Opportunity for couples: volunteer on a farm in Scotland

volunteer couple

I am looking for helpers to assist with daily tasks on my small petting farm, farm shop & B&B in John O’Groats village. Join me if you’d like to volunteer on a farm and enjoy tranquility.

Volunteer on a farm & enjoy tranquility – requirements & tasks

My farm is the most northerly petting farm on mainland in the UK! Most of my farm animals were rescued, some were bought, and a few were born here. They all love visitors, are super friendly, enjoy attention, and don’t end up as food. We also have two friendly Dalmatian farm dogs – a mother and her daughter.

The day normally starts at 8.30 am. We feed the animals their breakfast before opening the farm to the public at 10 am. We also muck out pens and do tasks connected with farm maintenance like painting fencing, weeding and cutting grass in summer. It is very important to keep the place tidy for visitors.

You will work for 25 hours a week which is 5 hours a day 5 days a week.

I am a single woman who works really hard so the help is much needed. I am drama-free and easy going but I do have a few rules. Smoking, drug use or excessive drinking on site are not accepted.

Volunteer on a farm & enjoy tranquility – what I offer

Volunteers have their own caravan connected to electricity and water. There is WiFi, bathroom and a kitchen. The caravan is warm, dry and fully furnished with everything you need. It has a toilet cassette that has to be emptied every 5 days or so but is very easy to do. The washing machine is in the house. I also offer a full board.
