Travel and work in Australia – requirements & tasks
Escape to a tranquil haven in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands, just a short drive from Brisbane! We’re a unique 12-guest property, bustling with weekend events, but with weekdays open for individual getaways.
We’re seeking a helping hand to nurture our garden and develop new guest areas. If you have a knack for landscaping or carpentry, your skills would be invaluable. We’re also passionate about growing our own produce, so knowledge of vegetable gardening is a bonus. Additionally, we need help with refreshing guest rooms after checkouts and laundering towels on Mondays.
Each day kicks off with an invigorating 2-hour session of clearing a designated area of the property, which may involve burning old trees in a controlled fire. We’ll then take a well-deserved morning tea break. Next, we’ll devote 2 hours to tending our vegetable garden, clearing space, planting new crops, harvesting the fruits of our labor, and ensuring everything is well-watered. Lunch will follow.
If we have new arrivals, we’ll dedicate 3 hours to preparing the house, which includes changing linens, thorough cleaning, mopping, and some laundry. This task isn’t daily and depends on bookings.
On days without cleaning, we’ll shift our focus to general upkeep tasks such as clearing roads, roofs, and tracks of debris, and creating new tranquil spaces for guests to enjoy. We encourage your creativity and welcome any personal touches you’d like to add to the property during your stay.
Workdays are Monday to Thursday, with a flexible schedule of 6 to 7 hours per day. Enjoy weekends free to discover the region’s hidden gems and join in the vibrant local scene.
Travel and work in Australia – what we offer
Stay in your own private three-bedroom home, sharing the space with our friendly caretaker. Two rooms are available each with a double bed and a shared bathroom. Alternatively, enjoy extra privacy in a separate studio, complete with its own bedroom and bathroom, a short stroll away, perfect for couples.
In return for your valuable contribution, we provide complimentary Wi-Fi and delicious pre-made meals. Please not you’ll be responsible for your own washing and cleaning up after meals. On Sunday evenings, we gather for a shared family roast dinner, a time to connect and enjoy each other’s company.
Both couples and solo adventurers are welcome to join our team.
